The following tests are performed when users log into Projectmates for the first time: · JavaScript · Cookies |
Automatic Compatibility Testing
After logging in for the first time, the Projectmates application will perform a Browser Compatibility Test. The browser test confirms or prompts the availability of certain features that are used in Projectmates. If any features are not available, the page will remain on the test screen and instructions will be provided to make necessary modifications to the browser.
Once the browser test successfully completes, the test information is stored in the form of a cookie on your computer. This cookie will expire in 90 days, at which time you will automatically be prompted to run the compatibility test again. |
The 2 Steps of the Browser Compatibility Test
Step 1: Testing for JavaScript
Projectmates utilizes JavaScript for the functionality of validating data or displaying messages. JavaScript is required to run Projectmates.
By default, some web browsers block certain scripting functionality used by the Projectmates application. |
If the browser stops on this page, follow the instructions given on the screen to enable JavaScript.
If these instructions do not work, contact your IT support person for your company. |
Cookies are used to store session information, such as the user name and project information, for each logged-in user. Cookies are required to use Projectmates. |
If the browser stops on this page, follow the instructions given on the screen to enable cookies.
If these instructions do not work, contact your IT support person for your company. |
Just as logging-in to the Projectmates site is essential, so is logging-off. Project documentation can be considered highly confidential and can be at-risk based on user rights. For example, if a user has rights to delete documents and neglects to logout, another user who normally has read only access might be able to delete files.
Additionally, Projectmates date/time/user stamps all actions taken in the system. So, if another person is accessing Projectmates using your session, everything that person does will be stamped with your user ID. Therefore, any mistakes or errors that the person makes will be traced back to your user ID. It is highly recommended that you follow the steps to logging-off of Projectmates each time you use it.
To log out of the system, click the Log Out link at the top right of the page. This will tell the system that your work session has been completed. Next, manually close any open browser windows to ensure that sensitive information is not visible to anyone else who might use your computer. |
